I think going to an NA server is the better choice. Regardless of pings (and as a beta player i haven't noticed much of lag if any)

it would be best if everyone was all on the one server. we need as many Oceanics on the one server to make it thrive.

However i fear that this site dosent speak for many people who are either not discussing what they want or are sitting on the fence.

You can go to NA servers if you want thou.

When pvp comes, you'll see majority will flock back to JP server because of PING.

Played in a few JP groups over the weekend with the translate features and had no issues much like in FF11 using the translate features and partying with JP players when not many english speaking players were high level early on.

Played on a JP server and I really love the community there. They are really polite. There is this really organized scenario which I have not seen before in most MMOs I played (Everyone will always want to rush, etc).

There is this instance quest which requires you to click the NPC. It will bug out if too many people click at the same time. Therefore, there was a long line of queue in a very orderly manner. Everyone queued behind each other automatically each time they arrive at the scene. Pretty neat.

My FC (Einsof) and I will be on MASAMUNE server. There are other FC/LS who speak English going to MASAMUNE too, such as Crystallier, Mercury and Crusader of Darkness (based on the recruitment thread in this forum). :)

I like the jp too, entire 1.0 i played with many and some are trying elarn english and alot been very polite and helpful. I not sure how far u have been in beta, but in 1.0 there were primals and such fight where latency affected dodging alot. The past 2 weeekend my shell and I we tested on 4 different server. 2 NA and 2 JP, ping affected alot, especially if you doing combos that procs if u hit certain direction, In NA server, lets say iw ant hit from the side of a target, i move and click, it didn't hit from side. server registered my pos different. In Jps erver, it all flows smoothly. Next the boss battle like ifrit and the level 32 dungeon. Ifrit attack 90 percent hit me on an NA server, but never hit me on a Jp server.

so to people who been in southeast asia and similar ping as me, it can be endgame breaking. and dps breaking. Thus is why many choose masamune and tonberry, and a bunch of international communities, at least of 1.0 decided move to masamune for their oceanic friends and continue same ping to jp.

Synapse will be on Tonberry as it's a new server, we have no intention of playing on a legacy server as we will be raiding from a fresh environment.

The flaws I see with an Oceanic community deciding that SEA/Oceanic players should start their characters on a JP server during the BETA phase of a game are very valid.
MOST new players, who purchase the game in Australia, will by default and due to the fact they do not speak Japanese, join a NA realm.

What this means is the limit of English speaking players you will be able to socialize with or recruit, is limited to those who speak Japanese, who read forums, and those who were in BETA and read the forums.
Also due to sheer numbers game, servers will be full and ques to enter will be annoying, and with full servers, leads to server issues and latency.

With an NA server, all new players from Australia that haven't read the forums or anything like that, will be playing on there, as well as the NA community. Latency really isn't that big of an issue from what I've seen. (PVP yet to be experienced)
Duty Finder can link you with players from a JP server who are on when you are anyways.
Most people speaking English makes voice comms much easier.

I personally have chosen Behemoth, as it is the majority ruling for Oceanic/SEA players starting new characters on a NA/English speaking server.
If anyone doesn't want to be on a JP server, you're welcome to join me, just let me know via reply or on my recruitment post might be easier.

I'll be rolling on the Tonberry server when Phase 4 commences (and post; as far as I'm aware anyway).

Yes, the majority of the population probably can't speak English, if not even the most basic terms (which is perfectly fine), but if what I've seen is correct and there's at least a small portion making the attempt to learn then I'm in full support of it (if only silently). Additionally, there will be a small-medium English-speaking community based there, and I want in! We'll dominate the realm chat with obnoxious English catchphrases and generally, small/occasional discussions in English!

Or at least that's what I'm hoping to see, and will make an attempt to secure anyway.
