A few Synapse members tested from various locations (only to the JP server based on the patch/login - this was before you guys posted NA address to try) and the results were as follows:

Australia to Japan

It looks like anyone in Australia on Optus may be looking at 300+ms to either server, due to poor routing by the ISP.

The best performing ISPs in Australia so far, look to be TPG, iiNET and Internode, with reports of 130-150ms for some, and low 200ms for others.

The largest carrier in Australia, Telstra, looks to be averaging around 200-220ms for most users.

Australia to Montreal

Need more data. But given the geographical distance between Australia to Montreal, I don't expect to see any pings below 250ms. Results so far from most Australians have been around the 300-350ms mark.

jp.square-enix.com : 150ms

But speedtest.net and pinging other .jp websites show at least 260+ms for Japan so guess will need to test live servers to get better idea for me in NZ :)
